Menopause, Longevity, and Minerals

When menopause started for me (age 47), I was in good health. I had energy to be an active mom, attentive wife, and supportive friend and family member. I worked full-time at a stressful job while attending night school for my Master's Degree. I woke up early to do intense workouts. I planned, shopped, and prepped to make home-cooked meals in advance for me and my family. I tried to keep a somewhat clean and orderly home. Yes, my husband and kids did what they could, but we were all busy. And let's face it, most of the mental and physical load surrounding housework falls on one person– in our family that person is me. My point is that I had loads of energy and my mind was sharp. I slept well at night and was excited to pop out of bed at the sound of a 4:30 a.m. alarm, but as menopause started, I noticed an abrupt change in all that.

How Menopause and Stress Wrecked My Health

Now I was tired all the time. My joints ached, and the thought of a workout seemed dreadful. I felt as if I was dragging myself through my day. I couldn't focus. Despite completing my workouts twice a day and making sure I was eating as healthy as I could, the pounds started packing on– so fast that the seams of my clothing started to split! I envisioned The Incredible Hulk scene (where he gets angry and outgrows his clothing within a few seconds), and I became terrified for my health. Is this how it begins? I thought. Will I now spend my days with a schedule full of medical appointments instead of teaching classes? Will I have a tray full of medications to take for the rest of my life? Will I be diagnosed with all of the things we consider a “normal” part of the aging process? Arthritis, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, or worse? I saw my active lifestyle fly out the window, and it was devastating to me. Was there any way to fight this at all? I was determined to seek answers. I was desperate.

A Change Encounter Provides Some Answers

Around this time, I ran into a good friend whose husband had been quite ill for many years. I asked about him– how is he doing? How are you holding up? She replied that he was doing okay, and they were trying to manage his condition with improved diet and supplements. They were committed to as few drugs as possible because of side effect concerns. She mentioned that the doctor suggested magnesium, and she was researching the best kind, but still hadn't ordered anything yet. She shared the manufacturer that she found– they only produce magnesium supplements, and they do it well. The company was Jigsaw Health– never heard of it! But I immediately went home and started looking at their website.

How Magnesium Helped My Menopause Symptoms

I started taking the Jigsaw Health magnesium malate (energizing) in the morning and magnesium glycinate (calming) at night. I noticed an immediate difference in my energy. I had less joint pain. I had been suffering for years with a bulging disc on the right side of my neck– even that pain decreased dramatically after starting the magnesium. My teenage daughter began using the magnesium to help with her PMS symptoms, and she noticed less cramping and irritability. I noticed my own moods became more stable, and I felt a sense of calm all day, despite all of the stress at work and juggling way too many responsibilities.

After feeling such a difference in my health after using the Jigsaw Health brand magnesium, I started reading the information on their website about magnesium. I had to know– why is this working? What’s really happening here? While there are a few other reputable brands of magnesium supplements on the market, magnesium is all Jigsaw Health manufactures. They don't create other supplements. Their magnesium supplements have been clinically tested and shown to increase magnesium in the body. This is the only time-release magnesium supplement on the market that has a placebo-controlled human clinical trial with results published in the peer-reviewed Journal of American College of Nutrition. This cemented my trust in the brand. I subscribed to their weekly newsletter and began reading their blog about the latest news concerning magnesium, vitamins, health research, etc.

During one of my reading sessions, I noticed they started carrying a product from another company called Trace Minerals. The product was ConcenTrace Mineral Drops, a supplement containing magnesium, chloride, sodium, and potassium. This product was linked to information about something called Root Cause Protocol. I had never heard of this. My curiosity was piqued. When I discovered what this Root Cause Protocol (RCP) was and how following it could improve my inflammation, I tried it. My health continued to improve– more energy, even better focus, and overall wellness. I was the opposite of sick and tired. Finally, I was truly thriving!

What is the Root Cause Protocol (RCP)?

Balancing the body's minerals for optimum health is the goal behind the Root Cause Protocol. Essentially, this is a way of life– dealing with the root cause of so many health problems we are facing by healing inflammation. Taking magnesium and trace minerals is one of the basic steps in the protocol– I add a few drops of trace minerals to my water every time I fill my cup. I keep a small bottle at home and one at work. This is much cheaper than buying mineral water - it comes out to pennies per day.

What the Medical Community Doesn’t Tell Us About Drinking Water

Adding trace minerals is a must for true hydration and optimum health. If you are just drinking regular water throughout your day, that water goes through your system and actually leaches minerals from your body causing more of an imbalance. Ironically, while many of us are drinking water all day to hydrate for our health, we are actually damaging our health if we are not replenishing our minerals. These trace minerals are essential for energy production, immune function, metabolism, and nerve signal transmission. They support bone health, neurological function, and hormone production. Since I've been taking trace minerals and magnesium I've noticed a difference in my energy and focus. I just feel better. I don't feel old and slow; I feel younger and vibrant!

Take Change of Your Health

If you don't know about the Root Cause Protocol, I encourage you to delve into the research of Morley Robbins and learn more about how to gain health, feel better, and increase longevity. Your precious body (and don't forget the brain!) is a single, complex system– all parts work together. We cannot continue to accept the attitude of modern medicine– that we should just treat the symptoms and move on. Symptoms are warning signs of systemic issues– the big one is inflammation. For me, learning about magnesium, minerals, and the Root Cause Protocol were keys to understanding inflammation and how to reverse it. I don't treat my symptoms; instead, I look for the root cause and do what I can to find a long-term solution. Stumbling across the Root Cause Protocol while learning about magnesium from a chance encounter with an old friend was no accident. I believe this was divine intervention for me to completely take charge of my health.

Dear Reader, if you are sick and tired of treating symptoms and still feeling sick and tired, I encourage you to take charge of your health. Start learning– you only have ONE YOU! You owe it to yourself, your kids, and your grandkids. I pray you find the answers you need.

With gratitude,
